Christ in the New Year
God brought four things together leading to this radio show.
At the age of 14, I began working in radio in my hometown of Putnam, CT. This was a dream realized for me because I was fascinated with the medium of radio for as long as I could remember. And I still am!
At the age of 19, God powerfully and graciously drew me to Christ after years of wandering in the counter-cultural 1960s. What an unexpected miracle to a most unlikely person! I retain my awe at the “amazing grace” that saved me and keeps me to this day.
During my time in graduate school, the elders of the church of which I was a member during my college years encouraged me to attend seminary with a goal of pastoral ministry. They saw my gifts as I worked with the church young adults. Little would I realize that this would set me on a course that would take me through three years of seminary, a year and a half as an organizing pastor of a church plant in SC, and then to a call to the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Franklin Square, NY where I have enjoyed 35 years of God’s richest blessings in pastoral ministry. I oversaw and learned from, among many other things, the formation of five daughter churches from the mother congregation in Franklin Square. In addition, I have been privileged to teach and mentor dozens of men preparing for the Christian ministry. Now it is a joy to see God’s blessing on many of these men as they labor in faithful pastoral ministry today.
My great passion is a pastoral ministry and the ongoing biblical reformation of the Church. One of my deepest convictions is that the Church, all local churches, and the bodies to which they are accountable know the greatest blessing of God when they are most conformed to the standards of Word of God. For me, those standards are best expressed in the historic confessions and catechisms of the churches that grew out of the Protestant Reformation. Through “A Visit to the Pastor’s Study” I (together with other pastors) look forward to bringing that faithful pastoral ministry to you…because everyone needs a pastor!

Over the past weeks, we’ve been reflecting on Jesus Christ’s coming into the world, and what that means. In the first of these four programs, we spent time reflecting on Jesus Christ Himself as the Gift of Gifts. He is Immanuel – God with us; and by what we call …
